He walks round the ring a bucket in hand
is it filled with Water or possibly Sand
He`s ready to throw it, we`re all sure you see
But will he throw it at You or will it be Me
WILL HE-WON`T HE?
Throw Shredded Paper at Me.
Clowns, typically characterized by their colored wigs, stylistic makeup outlandish costumes, and unusually large footwear are comic performers known throughout many cultures for centuries. During the 16th century the Commedia dell'arte became a huge influence on perceptions of the clown in Europe, an influence which passed through pantomime, into vaudeville and on to the touring circuses of the 19th and 20th centuries. Royal Doulton has captured some of these humorous images in their Clowns series
In a world where old fashioned values seems to be long gone, a tradition of craftsmanship still lives on in the Royal Doulton studios in which these figures are created. The artists and sculptors, potters and decorators, employ many of the same tried and tested techniques as their predecessors and use only the highest quality material such as fine bone china, natural pigments and deep lustre glaze
