The Old Balloon Seller is the quintessential street vendor and an icon of the Royal Doulton heritage in figurines, first designed by Leslie Harradine in 1929. This dignified, mature lady is gracefully attired, her white and green edged skirt set off by the black-with-green tassels of the coat over her shoulders. During the 19th century street vendors were a common sight in towns and cities. With their bright and cheerful wares balloons, flowers and hundreds of other items their friendly cries for trade made a very colorful spectacle.
