Arnold Bennett was an English novelist between the late 1800s and early 1900s. He believed that ordinary people had the potential to be the subject of interesting books. His most famous works are the Clayhanger trilogy and The Old Wives' Tale. These books draw on his experience of life in the Potteries, known in his novels as "the Five Towns". This series pays tribute to Bennett and his works.
Every year the Royal Doulton Visitor Centre in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent would display a favorite figurine for visitors to admire. The Visitor Centre series is a collection of some of those figurines.
In a world where old fashioned values seems to be long gone, a tradition of craftsmanship still lives on in the Royal Doulton studios in which these figures are created. The artists and sculptors, potters and decorators, employ many of the same tried and tested techniques as their predecessors and use only the highest quality material such as fine bone china, natural pigments and deep lustre glaze
